Hi, I'm Claudia.
Naturopath, Feminine Embodiment Coach, Educator, Inspirer
Hi, I’m Claudia, a degree qualified Naturopath based in Brisbane, Australia and NHAA member (Naturopaths & Herbalists Association of Australia) with an interest in helping women transition through life stages with more balanced hormones.
I have a passion for Natural Medicine and Feminine Embodiment Coaching and believe that integrating body, mind and emotional health can lead to incredible unfolding in a woman’s health journey.
I am the Principal Naturopath and Founder of Peoniflora, where I support my clients in face to face consultations, or online at their own convenience and independent to their geographical location. I also love to run workshops and educate my clients about their hormonal health & other topics of current interest.
I love to travel, to connect with family and friends and to have fun. I am also a mother to three beautiful boys, a foodie, tea fanatic, flower lover and avid reader. While in clinic, I am fascinated by the science and biochemistry of the human body and how mental, emotional and physical aspects interlace with each other leading to a complete representation of health & wellbeing.
With life experiences in Brazil, USA and Australia, I bring a multi-cultural background and approach to my practice.
My mission is to support, empower and educate as many women as possible to better nurture and understand their bodies in order to make informed decisions and achieve better health, connection, happiness and quality of life.
Why Peoniflora?
Peonies represent the feminine focus of my practice, and its name is easily pronounced in multiple languages which serves my diverse clientele. As my experience progressed, I found myself drawn to herbal medicine remedies originated from the peony flower to treat the female reproductive system.
An interesting fact about peonies worth noting is that it is the floral symbol of China and is widely used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Once you plant a peony plant, they can live to be one hundred years old. Ultimately, peonies are incredibly beautiful, feminine, and give me joy, thus representing my passion for helping and serving fellow women.
My story
As a little girl I grew up inspired by my grandfather who was a well-renowned cardio-thoracic surgeon in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. We spent family lunches at my grandparents’ house during my childhood watching him talk about his experiences in medicine with so much passion and care that there was no way I could rub it off. In my teenage years as I got to high school, I had to start thinking about where I wanted to head “when I grew up”. I wanted to be a doctor like my grandfather, help people with their health and feel passion and joy every day through my career path. So, I enrolled in the Biomed stream at my high school in Brazil and carried on for a couple of years. During the last stretch of my last year, I had a moment of doubt thinking I was too squeamish to deal with medicine and changed career paths. A massive detour then took place. I went on to study Business Administration and Information Technology, working in management consulting in many industries around the world and later spent some time being a full-time mom and raising my three boys. As the years passed and the family settled in Australia, the boys grew up. It was during a period of intense stress, anxiety and overwork that my body suffered an exhaustion-related breakdown. I didn’t know what was happening or how to work towards feeling like myself again.
In serendipity, I stumbled upon a Naturopath who supported me through my wellness journey. When I got to the point where I was feeling like myself again: happy, amazing, energized and empowered, I had the lightbulb moment that I could come full circle to my origins and actually practice medicine in a natural way and not have to worry about being squeamish. I had finally come home to my calling and I believe that this is where I was meant to be all along in my career path. It was a long way to get here but here I am ready to support you on your health journey.
What is Naturopathy for me?
In my clinic I work in a holistic way to try to find and address the cause of my clients’ presenting complaints. I follow a detailed case-taking process supported by physical examinations and functional pathology testing. As a result, I develop treatment plans that encompass herbal medicine, nutritional supplements, dietary advice and lifestyle recommendations – all tailored for each individual case at each point in time. My treatment plans assist the body in returning to a more balanced state.
In addition to the physical health, I include in my approach Feminine Embodiment Coaching aspects in order to support the physical wellness journey of my clients’ integration with their mental and emotional wellbeing.
